The next step in this painting is putting in the blacks, I do this in every painting, but in this one especially I am really developing it heavily before I move into color, probably because it just seemed natural as there are so many blacks/darks in the final.

For the next painting I will be doing a Egyptian theme. I drew inspiration for her outfit from historical sources as well as some more fictional sources. While researching I couldn't find any visual evidence that women would paint there bodies in gold, but it seemed like a fun idea. Anyway, it may not be apparent in the sketch, but she is not completely nude, but rather entirely (accept for her face) covered in gold paint. So here is the beginning sketch for my next painting, a bit of a fantasy piece a lingerie-clad girl riding a carousel horse. The sketch is about half finished. I have to rework some of the angles in the horse as the perspective is a bit off. The whole image is a bit distorted here as I took the photo of it at rather a steep angle. Well that is all for now, I hope to have the sketch done in the next day or two. Stay tuned. So this is as far as I got on the fit/muscular pinup painting today, I should have gotten further along but I've been updating my site all day so this is it. This is always the roughest point in my painting process, nothing is smooth or even but that is fine as it is still early on in the process. I am still not sure how I will handle the background entirely, I want to make it somewhat abstract/vague so it doesn't just look like she's sitting in a canyon in Arizona. haha I am not sure how far along I will get this week on this painting as I have allot going on, but I will update as I do. So I finished a painting AND got a sketch done for the next one in the same day, must be some kind of record haha. Anyways here it is, as the model is muscular and fit I thought I would give her an austere and hard environment to be in. While there is a correlation between her cut muscles and the jagged rock face, the curves of her body do contrast nicely with the sharp angles of the rock. The model is fitness pro Bethany Nelson. |
